Celebrate the 107th birthday of Edna Lewis, her recent inclusion into the National Portrait Gallery, and her life, legacy, and contribution to American cuisine and culinary heritage.
We’ll be joined by renowned Soul Food Scholar, Adrian Miller, and Edna’s Niece, Nina Williams-Mbengue, who lived with Edna Lewis for a number of years in New York City, and who, at the age of 12, typed the manuscript for The Taste of Country Cooking.
Our tribute will feature food prepared by local chefs offering a modern twist on some of Edna’s favorite recipes and an Edna Lewis-inspired cocktail.
